Inked your fingers yet?

The 2014 general election have begun in India, and while Bollywood might not be the most politically-aware section of our nation, yet we find role models galore.

Given how our politicians are a routinely uninspiring lot, here are 10 actors we'd say are worth a ballot:

Amitabh Bachchan

The elder statesman of the industry, Mr Bachchan would be the perfect Speaker of the House, that baritone resounding brilliantly across Parliament, immediately taming (and shaming) the usually-unruly netas.

And with his meticulously detailed blogposts, we wouldn't even need an RTI form to know what's going on.

Doesn't Katrina -- as the Englishwoman who learnt Hindi and turned Indian enough to become one of the most successful actresses in the country -- epitomise the Congress dream?

Also, voting for Shiela makes marginally more sense than voting for that former cricketer with the same last name.

Given just how much certain prime ministerial candidates are talking about chest sizes, we might as well bring up the one person even more expansive than NaMo.

Salman Khan

Bhai might have burnt his box office fingers for standing next to Mr Modi, but the Bhai fanbase is no myth, and he enjoys the kind of loyalty seasoned politicians would trade their mufflers for.

But what do we do with him once we elect him?

Anil Kapoor

Long before a certain Arvind Kejriwal raised his broom to the skies and made the chief-ministerial post look far more radical than it has in years, we had Kapoor being the honest journalist making a difference in Nayak.

We'd buy into this AK too, especially if he uses the name of his biggest hit -- that invisible superhero film -- as his slogan.

Kangna Ranaut

Forget the fashion iconoclast and look to her Queen character Rani-from-Rajouri, a feisty, realistic, practical and defiant young woman who would -- in all likelihood -- gladly support Mr Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party.

Aamir Khan

The Satyameva Jayate crusader seems like full-on politico material: He stands for truth and justice, is indubitably sincere, and looks good in white.

The only caveat may be that we, as a nation, might have to start importing handkerchiefs to meet Khan's inevitable need.

Gul Panag

Jokes aside, Gulkirat Kaur Panag -- who is standing for the Aam Aadmi Party in Chandigarh -- is a genuinely smart and savvy woman with her eyes on the ball, and she could do with our support as she tries actively to make a difference (as opposed to merely tweeting about making a difference).

Godspeed, Gul.
