Ingredients for Poached Cinnamon Pear on Toast

For poached pear
4 cups water
1/4 cup sugar
1 cinnamon stick
2 cardamoms
1 pear peeled

For the toast
4 slices baguette
4 tablespoon cream cheese
Pinch of cinnamon powder
Honey/ maple syrup

Directions for Poached Cinnamon Pear on Toast

For Poaching the Pear

  • In a saucepan add water, sugar, cinnamon, cardamom and bring to a boil.
  • Now add the pear and cook for 20 minutes, ensure to turn them around every few minutes to get an even colour and even cooking all around. Timing will depend on the ripeness of the pears so simmer until soft when tested with a knife. Take care not to overcook the pear.

How to proceed

  • Remove the pear on a plate, and let it come to room temperature. Cut the pear into half and remove the seeds. Slice in the desired thickness. Set aside.
  • Toast the baguette till golden and crisp.
  • Now spread a tablespoon of cream cheese on the baguette slice. Arrange pear slices and drizzle honey or maple syrup.
  • Garnish with a little bit of cinnamon powder.
  • Serve with any fruit on the side if desired.
